Description

This 41-year-old sought removal of 5-year-old, 275cc silicone implants for unresolved health issues. Within one year of augmentation she began to experience joint pain, fatigue, and head aches, and was concerned that these may be related to BReast Implant Illness (BII). Exam showed moderate asymmetry, more pronounced on the right, with the right implant sitting lower and significant tissue thinning in that area, giving the appearance of lateral nipple-areolar displacement. Removal and total capsulectomy were performed through an inframammary crease incision. She reports that after surgery that she felt great, with resolution of symptoms, particularly joint pain, and the best health in 4 years. Patient was pleased with her decision and surgical outcome.
