Injectables
in Atlanta, GA
Other injectables include biostimulators like Sculptra, which increases collagen production, and PRP/PRFM, which utilizes components from your own blood to rejuvenate the skin.
Injectable treatments typically take 15-30 minutes to complete, but this can vary depending on the type of injectable used and the scope of your concerns. Numbing (if requested) and blood processing (for PRP/PRFM) will add time to your appointment. Our team will provide you with an estimate during your consultation based on your specific needs and treatment.

Wrinkle Relaxers
BOTOX®, Dysport® and Daxxify® are all classified as neuromuscular inhibitors, also referred to as wrinkle relaxers. When injected into a muscle, they prevent it from contracting as strongly, causing the overlying skin to stay smooth and reducing the appearance of expression lines.
BOTOX® Cosmetic has been in use for over two decades in over 75 countries worldwide for a variety of medical and therapeutic treatments. It is a safe, effective method for dealing with fine lines and wrinkles. BOTOX® Cosmetic is FDA-approved to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines, but it is often used off-label to address other signs of aging, including bunny lines around the nose, a gummy smile, facial slimming, perioral wrinkles and giving the upper lip a fuller appearance (known as the “lip flip”).
Dysport® is similar to BOTOX® Cosmetic and also works by relaxing the treated muscles to reduce expression lines and wrinkles. It has been used for over a decade and is preferred by some patients as it has a faster onset of action and spreads more easily beneath the skin, making it ideal for treating larger areas, such as the forehead. It may also provide a “softer,” more natural look. Both BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® last for three to four months.
Daxxify® is the newest FDA-approved wrinkle relaxer on the market, made with novel peptides and proprietary Peptide Exchange Technology™ (PXT) to stabilize the formula without the use of human or animal proteins. Daxxify® can last for up to six months, nearly twice as long as other wrinkle relaxers, so you can maintain smooth skin with just two treatments a year.

Wrinkle Relaxer FAQs
Am I a good candidate for wrinkle relaxers?
Wrinkle relaxers are suitable for both men and women looking to reduce the appearance of expression lines and wrinkles — those creases that appear with every wink, frown or smile. These popular injectables can be used to address the following concerns:
- Smooth bands along the neck
- Creases between your eyebrows
- Flatten deep forehead wrinkles
- Smooth out crow’s feet
- Relax the corners of the mouth
- Clean up “smoker’s” lines above your upper lip
Are these treatments performed in-office?
Yes! These are in-office treatments that can be performed in 30 minutes or less.
Are the injections painful?
No. Patients say there is very little to no discomfort during the treatment. Each injection takes just a few seconds to complete. Some experience a mild, temporary stinging sensation that quickly subsides. We offer multiple comfort measures if needed during treatment.
Do wrinkle relaxers involve downtime?
Our patients rarely require downtime. Most patients can typically resume normal activities right after their treatment. We ask patients to avoid lying flat for four hours, skip facials or massages on the day of treatment, and avoid exercising immediately after treatment.
What are the potential side effects?
Rarely, some patients may fail to see improvement in their condition after treatment. Mild bruising, redness, and swelling are normal in many cases and resolve on their own in a few days.
Does insurance cover treatments?
Insurance typically covers medically necessary treatments which do not include cosmetic treatments.
Is financing available for treatments?
Yes, financing is available today for most cosmetic procedures. We accept CareCredit and PatientFi for affordable financing options.
Dermal Fillers
Aging, sun damage and other factors cause our skin to lose natural volume and structure. Starting in our mid-20s, collagen production drops by about 1% each year, while elastin and hyaluronic acid also decline. As these components of firm, supple skin are reduced, noticeable lines, wrinkles and facial folds start to develop, making us appear older than we feel.
Dermal filler benefits include:
- Natural-looking results tailored to meet your individual needs.
- Correction of deeper wrinkles, folds, and facial creases.
- Restores lost volume and contours the face.
- Smooth gel that flows easily and consistently into the skin.
At our practice, we utilize a variety of hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers to restore lost volume. We utilize the following Juvéderm®, Restylane® and Teoxane RHA® products:
Juvéderm®:
- Juvéderm® Ultra XC
- Juvéderm® Voluma® XC
- Juvéderm® Vollure® XC
- Juvéderm® Volbella® XC
- Juvéderm® Volux® XC
Restylane®:
- Restylane® Lyft
- Restylane® Defyne
- Restylane®-L
- Restylane® Refyne
- Restylane® Kysse
- Restylane® Contour
The RHA® Collection:
- RHA® Redensity®
- RHA® 2
- RHA® 3
- RHA® 4
Each filler is designed for specific needs and concerns, and our experienced providers will help select the best filler (or combination of fillers) to help achieve your goals. Dermal filler appointments typically take about an hour to complete, but this can vary depending on your treatment plan. Once injected, they can last for six months up to two years. Using a fine needle, the smooth gel is gently injected under the skin. All of our products contain an anesthetic called lidocaine to help reduce discomfort during your treatment.

Dermal Fillers FAQs
Am I a good candidate for treatment?
Men or women who are experiencing volume loss in the face resulting in sagging jowls, loss of cheek volume, under-eye hollows or loss of jawline definition are ideal candidates for dermal filler treatments. Overall good health and realistic expectations are important. Our advanced aesthetic injector will assess your condition and concerns during your initial consultation and create a personalized treatment plan for you.
Are dermal fillers safe?
Injectable dermal fillers are synthetic gels that are primarily made of hyaluronic acid, a water-loving molecule found naturally in our skin. Filler is used to temporarily add volume to various areas of the face. Our advanced aesthetic injectors are highly trained and very knowledgeable of facial anatomy, and the safety of their patients is their #1 priority.
What is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan found throughout the body’s connective tissue. Hyaluronic acid is the main component that gives your skin structure and is responsible for that plump and hydrated look. Over time, hyaluronic acid production slows down, and lines, wrinkles, and folds appear. All of our dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid and can help slow the visible signs of aging.
How are dermal fillers different from neuromodulators (botox or dysport)?
Dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid to correct volume loss and address static lines, wrinkles, and facial folds, which are visible even when the face is at rest. Dermal fillers offer immediate results and last for six to 18 months, depending on the formula used and the concerns treated.
Neuromodulators like BOTOX®, Dysport® and Daxxify® use botulinum toxin to temporarily relax the treated muscles, reducing the appearance of dynamic (or expressive) wrinkles, including crow’s feet, 11s between the brows (frown lines) and forehead wrinkles.
Will filler make me look fake?
No, expertly administered fillers will not make you look fake or overdone. At Dr. Rudderman Plastic Surgery and Med Spa, our goal is to leave you looking more refreshed and rejuvenated, not dramatically change your appearance. Our advanced injectors meticulously add filler to key areas of the face to produce an incredibly natural result.
What facial areas are typically treated?
Commonly treated areas include the cheeks, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, lips and tear troughs. Other areas we also inject with dermal filler are the temples, chin and jawline, as well as fine lines on the face. Our collection of fillers is commonly used to:
- Volumize the cheeks
- Define the chin and jawline
- Plump the lips
- Smooth smile lines around the mouth
- Balance your facial contours
No two faces are exactly alike, so your treatment plan will be customized to your unique anatomy and goals. We provide a complimentary consultation with our expert injectors to assess your needs and ensure a safe, effective treatment.
Are dermal filler injections painful?
No, dermal fillers are considered a very tolerable treatment because we apply a numbing cream prior to injection. You may feel a little discomfort with the small needle pokes but we use distracting tools to keep you as comfortable as possible. Our expert injectors provide exceptional techniques to ensure that all treatments are as comfortable as possible. In addition, all of our fillers contain lidocaine to provide additional comfort during your treatment.
How often do I need filler? How long does filler last?
Dermal fillers can last anywhere from six months to two years. This can highly vary depending on the filler used, the area of the face treated as well as the patient’s individual metabolism. Typically, we recommend retreatment every one to two years. After assessment with one of our injectors, they will be able to guide you if more filler is needed.
Is there anything I need to do after my filler appointment?
We recommend avoiding blood thinners such as Advil and Aleve for 24 hours after your appointment, as well as strenuous exercise and alcohol. You may take Tylenol for pain if you experience any discomfort. If swelling is present, apply ice to the area several times a day. If you have any pinpoint bruising, you may apply arnica gel to the area to expedite the healing process but this is totally optional.
*Please note, if you take blood thinners prescribed or recommended by your doctor, please get your physician’s approval before pausing these medications.
What are the potential side effects?
Mild bruising, redness, and swelling are normal in many cases and resolve on their own in a few days.
Will insurance cover dermal filler treatments?
Insurance does not pay for cosmetic procedures, however, financing is available. Please ask about it in our business office.
Facial Balancing
The art of facial balancing goes beyond addressing individual concerns. It involves creating proportional, aesthetically pleasing contours that work together as a cohesive whole. This sophisticated approach strategically enhances key areas to improve overall facial symmetry.
Our experienced team specializes in this artful approach, understanding that true beauty lies in the subtle relationships between your facial features. Through careful assessment of your bone structure, soft tissue volume and aesthetic goals, we develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses your concerns while maintaining the unique characteristics that make you.
Facial Balancing FAQs
How is facial balancing different from traditional filler treatments?
Traditional treatments focus on individual concerns, while facial balancing takes a comprehensive approach to enhance overall facial harmony and proportion by strategically adding subtle volume to key areas. No two treatments are exactly the same, with each being completely customized and based on your own unique facial anatomy.
Am I a good candidate for facial balancing?
Facial balancing is an excellent treatment option for both men and women wanting to achieve a refreshed, harmonious appearance. Ideal candidates should have realistic expectations and want to enhance their natural features rather than dramatically change their appearance. Good overall health and no contraindications to injectable treatments are also necessary.
Will I need touch-ups after my initial treatment?
Some patients may benefit from minor adjustments a few weeks after their initial treatment, once any swelling has subsided and the results have settled. This ensures optimal symmetry and proportion.
Can facial balancing be combined with other aesthetic treatments?
Yes, facial balancing works beautifully alongside other treatments like chemical peels, microneedling or laser therapies for the most comprehensive results.
Biostimulators
Biostimulators like Sculptra® offer a unique approach to facial rejuvenation that works with your body’s natural processes to restore youthful volume. Rather than simply filling in wrinkles or adding immediate volume to treated areas, biostimulators increase collagen production to rejuvenate from within, creating beautiful, natural-looking results that develop over time.
Sculptra® is the gold standard in biostimulator treatments, a long-lasting injectable containing poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) to encourage collagen synthesis deep within the skin. This process helps restore the underlying structure that gives skin its youthful appearance, addressing the volume loss that occurs naturally with aging. With Sculptra, the improvements come from your body’s own collagen, integrating seamlessly to avoid the risk of an “overdone” appearance.
Biostimulators require a different approach than traditional dermal fillers, with results that develop gradually over several months. Most patients begin to notice improvements around six weeks after treatment, with full results visible after three to four months. Once they’ve developed, you can expect to enjoy the benefits of treatment for up to two years.
Biostimulator FAQs
How long do biostimulator results last?
Results typically last for 24 months or longer, as your body continues to produce new collagen for months after treatment. This makes biostimulators one of the longest-lasting injectable options available. Patients report sustained improvements in skin texture, quality and volume.
What should I expect during the treatment timeline?
You’ll see gradual improvements beginning around six weeks, with full results visible after three to four months. Most patients require two to three treatment sessions for optimal results.
Are biostimulators suitable for all skin types?
Yes, biostimulators like Sculptra work beneath the skin to simulate your body’s natural collagen production, making them safe and effective for all skin types and tones. The main ingredient used, PLLA, is biocompatible and safely absorbed by the body over time.
How do biostimulators compare to traditional dermal fillers?
While traditional fillers provide immediate volume, biostimulators work gradually to restore your own collagen for longer-lasting, more natural-looking results. Many patients choose biostimulators for their superior longevity and natural feel, or combine them with filler and wrinkle relaxer treatments for comprehensive results.
PRP/PRFM
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin matrix (PRFM) are cutting-edge regenerative treatments that harness the healing power of growth factors to refresh and rejuvenate the skin. When PRP and PRF are strategically injected into areas of concern, they promote tissue regeneration, improve skin texture and tone, and can even help with hair restoration.
Both PRP and PRFM come from separating the platelets in your blood to create a plasma rich in growth factors, cytokines and other beneficial components, but PRFM is processed a bit differently. It involves an extra step to create a spongy, gel-like substance (the fibrin matrix) that enhances and prolongs its effects. By releasing growth factors slowly over a period of time, PRFM can yield longer-lasting results and is particularly effective for certain applications.
Dr. Rudderman’s team utilizes the most advanced centrifugation techniques to ensure optimal concentration of healing factors in your PRP/PRFM treatment. The entire process, from blood draw to injection, takes place in our office and typically requires about an hour to complete.
PRP/PRFM FAQs
Is PRP/PRFM safe since it uses my own blood?
Yes, using your own blood eliminates the risk of allergic reactions or rejection, making PRP/PRFM treatments extremely safe with minimal risk of adverse effects.
How many treatments will I need?
Most patients benefit from a series of three treatments spaced four to six weeks apart, with maintenance treatments recommended every 12 to 18 months for optimal results. However, this can differ depending on your needs and goals. Patients undergoing PRP/PRFM for hair restoration, for example, are typically recommended to undergo at least two maintenance treatments a year, while yearly touch-ups are typically sufficient for skin rejuvenation.
What’s the difference between PRP and PRFM?
PRFM is an advanced PRP therapy, containing a higher concentration of platelets and growth factors in a fibrin matrix.PRFM provides a more sustained release of healing growth factors over a longer period of time, often leading to enhanced results.
Can PRP/PRF be combined with other treatments?
Absolutely. PRP/PRF works synergistically with microneedling, laser treatments, and other regenerative procedures to amplify your skin’s natural healing and rejuvenation processes.
