Description
This 60-year-old no longer wanted the size or feel of her breast implants and sought removal. She had 9-year-old, 400cc implant on the right and 450cc implant on the left. Evaluation revealed scars consistent with a prior breast lift. The left breast was significantly hardened, consistent with capsular contracture causing breast asymmetry, and had an area below the nipple that was scarred and depressed down to the level of the implant capsule, creating a deformity in the lower breast shape. There was also thinning of the right breast tissue below the nipple area. Implant removal, capsulectomy, and a breast reshaping lift were performed, resulting in improved contour and symmetry of breast volume and nipple positioning, and effectively resolving the contour deformity on the left breast. She was very pleased with the surgical outcome.
