Breast surgery can typically be divided into three general categories of breast augmentation, breast reduction, and reconstruction. Dr. Rudderman’s experience with groundbreaking initiatives in the scientific, biomechanical, and technical aspects of Plastic Surgery give him a foundation of experience not available to most plastic surgeons in private practice. His work with pioneering teams in the field of reconstructive surgery has resulted in fundamental shifts in understanding the behavior of the human form and approaches to treatment that have positively impacted thousands of people. Since 1989, Dr. Randy Rudderman has been in private Plastic Surgery practice in Atlanta, focusing on the full range of aesthetic and reconstructive procedures.

Available Surgical Surgeries and Procedures for the Breasts

  • Areolar Reduction – Areolar surgery is performed to change the size and shape of the Areola in a safe and predictable manner. The Areolar can change due to genetics, lifestyle, breastfeeding, weight shifts, and normal aging. Nipple and Areolar reduction surgery are very common today and are also very safe.
  • Breast Asymmetry – Breast asymmetry is best defined as differences in breast size, breast shape, an imbalance between the breasts, difference in the nipple/areola size and height, a variation in inframammary creases (fold at the lower breast) and overall contour differences of the breast.
  • Breast Augmentation – Breast augmentation is often the procedure of choice for women who desire larger and often more symmetric breast. The operation and recovery allow for the return to most work in 4 days and is generally way easier than most realize.
  • Breast Disease – Dr. Rudderman is an expert in matters of the breast and as a specially trained reconstructive surgeon, he has been able to guide many, many women through the process and procedures with wonderful, positive results.
  • Breast Lift – A breast Lift is for the woman whose breasts droop more than desired. The tendency is inherited, can occur with weight change, or sagging can happen post-pregnancy, with hormonal changes, or just aging and gravity.
  • Breast Reconstruction – Breast Reconstruction restores a normal-looking breast following treatment for breast cancer.
  • Breast Reduction – Breast Reduction is more than just removing excess breast tissue. The breast itself can be sculpted into a smaller, more pleasing shape and bring it into balance with the rest of the body.
  • Breast Revision – Revision Breast Surgery is common, because of change and often because earlier in life the woman and her surgeon’s perception of “balance” were not the same. Dr. Rudderman is well versed in breast revision surgery and will take the time to validate your needs, wants, and desired.
  • Breast Symmastia – Breast symmastia is a condition that is generally caused by overly aggressive implant surgery. Uniboob or Breadloafing are other common names for this condition in which breast implants have shifted and are now positioned so they touch each other to form one breast.
  • Capsular Contracture – Capsular contracture can occur after a Breast Augmentation with implants and causes the breast to feel firm, unnatural and often painful. The most severe cases can cause strange distorted breast shapes.
  • Correction of Inverted Nipples – Nipple inversion is also commonly referred to as inverted nipples or innie nipples. This issue can be present from birth, occur during puberty, present following pregnancy and breastfeeding, be part of normal aging, occur with weight loss, or be related to trauma or other inflammatory problems of the breast.
  • Fat Transfer (Fat Grafting) – Fat grafting, or fat transfer, is a procedure used to remove fat from one area of the body and place it in another area to increase volume, change contour, fill in a defect or depression, or restore shape. Fat grafting can be performed in the breast to adjust volume and to improve contour in patients that have undergone breast implant removal, breast reconstruction, lumpectomy, breast radiation, or breast trauma.
  • Nipple Reduction – There is a surprisingly high number of women and men who feel their nipples are just too large or wide for their breast. Genetics usually accounts for this condition of large, prominent, protruding, droopy nipples.
  • Tubular Breasts – Tubular breasts are typically longer and more narrow shaped breast with a nipple/areola area that may look pointed, puffy and seems to point downward or is too close to the breast crease.
