Blepharoplasty repairs droopy eyelids. This eyelid surgery may involve removing excess skin, muscle, or fat. Dr. Rudderman performs Blepharoplasty on men and women of all ages and stages in life. Eyelid surgery is one of the most popular surgeries done today because it can take 5, 10, 15 years off an aging face and keep you looking younger for as many years.
The most common complaint surgeons hear from older, wiser patients is: “my eyelids are too heavy, puffy, dark, tired, wrinkled and just old looking.” Genetics, the way and at what pace we will age, lifestyle, aging and trauma/disease are all causes of aging eyelids. The eye area is one of the first to show dramatic signs of facial aging as the skin begins to slacken, muscles start to droop and skin tissues around the eyes get weaker. Loss of elasticity in the upper eyelid creates a “tissue paper’ appearance as the lid descends downward to rest on the eyelashes. Simultaneously, shadowy hollows appear below the eye while eye bags and excess fatty deposits become more prominent. Women know that even the greatest makeup can’t hide many of these problem areas. Men and women understand impaired vision caused by droopy, overhanging upper eyelid skin. This can be corrected with Eyelid Surgery.
It’s often said: “The eyes are the most engaging & colorful attraction of the face & inviting eyes are essential to a youthful look.”

For the upper eyelids: Dr. Rudderman makes an inconspicuous incision in the crease of your upper eyelid from the inside corner. He works through this to reposition and/or remove fat, tighten muscles/tissue, and to remove excess skin as needed. Incision for the lower eyelids is made just below the lower lashes or may be placed inside the lower eyelid. The same process is repeated as was done for the upper eyelid. Ointment and gauze dressing are applied to your eyes after surgery is completed.
