Wrinkle relaxers, also known as neurotoxins, are injectable treatments that temporarily relax the facial muscles responsible for expression lines. Unlike dermal fillers that add volume, wrinkle relaxers work by preventing the muscle contractions that cause dynamic wrinkles to form. They can also be used to enhance facial features.

What to Expect During Treatment

Wrinkle relaxers offer a quick, convenient and effective way to refresh your appearance. Most treatments can be completed in just 15-20 minutes with virtually no recovery or downtime. Your experience begins with a one-on-one consultation at our Atlanta or Alpharetta location, where our team will evaluate your concerns and goals to develop a treatment plan just for you.

The treatment process itself is relatively simple. Your provider will ask you to make certain facial expressions and, using a very fine needle, inject small amounts of Botox, Dysport or Daxxify into specific muscles. Each injection takes just a few seconds to complete and feels like a small pinch. 

Afterward, you’ll be able to return home and resume normal activities with no downtime. However, for the best results, our team will provide you with aftercare instructions, such as avoiding drinking, excessive heat or exercise for at least 24 hours after your treatment. 

Wrinkle Relaxer Results

After your treatment, you may experience mild bruising, swelling or redness at the injection sites. These side effects are completely normal and should subside. Unlike dermal fillers that provide an immediate plumping effect, wrinkle relaxers take some time to work. You’ll start to notice a difference within three to five days, with the full effects of treatment appearing after two weeks. Some brands, like Dysport and Daxxify, may kick in even sooner.
